title: ZevAI
description: The writing assistant inside the dashboard editors. What it can do, where to find it, and how it is metered.
---

ZevAI is the writing assistant built into every rich text editor in the
dashboard: blog posts, help centre articles and rich text fields on your
own content types. It rewrites, proofreads, continues and summarises what
you have written, and it never changes anything without showing you first.

## What it does

**Select some words** and press ZevAI in the toolbar that appears:

- **Improve writing** for clearer sentences with the same meaning.
- **Fix spelling & grammar**. Each fix is shown one at a time; you accept or
reject each, or all at once.
- **Adjust tone**: formal, casual, confident or friendly.
- **Make shorter**, **make longer**, **simplify**.
- **Summarise below**: a short paragraph after the passage.
- **Translate** into another language.
- **Ask ZevAI to…** anything else, in your own words.

**Type `/`** in the editor for **Continue writing** (the next paragraph or
two, in your voice) and **Ask ZevAI**.

**Press ZevAI above the editor** to proofread or improve the whole article.

The **Summary** field and the **search title and description** each have a
button that writes them from the body of the article.

## Nothing changes until you say so

A suggestion lands in your article as a diff: the old words struck
through, the new ones highlighted, and Accept or Reject beneath them.
Until you decide, the article is exactly as it was and nothing is saved.
Every suggestion is your words rewritten, not new claims: ZevAI keeps
your facts, names, numbers, links and quotations.

> **INFO**
>
> Your draft is sent to ZevAI only when you ask for something, and only the
> part you asked about. Nothing is stored beyond what is needed to count the
> action and to record whether you kept the result.

## Who can use it

ZevAI is turned on per person. The workspace owner always has it. A
workspace admin turns it on for a member from **Workspace → Members**, or
on the invitation when inviting someone. Members without it do not see
ZevAI anywhere.

## How it is metered

Every workspace has a monthly allowance of ZevAI **actions**. One action is
one thing you asked ZevAI to do, whether or not you kept the result. The
allowance depends on the plan; it resets on the first of each month.

How much is left is shown next to your profile in the top bar, and in
detail on the **ZevAI** page, which also shows who in the workspace used it
and on what. When the allowance is used up, ZevAI says so and waits for
next month. Plans with overage pricing say so before you spend an extra
action.

## Tell it what you think

After a suggestion is accepted or rejected, ZevAI asks whether it helped.
A thumbs down with a sentence is the most useful thing you can send; it is
read.
